2009 NCNR/NSF Summer School Housing Information

Registration for the Summer School will be on June 21st, 2009 from 4-7 pm. Please, plan your trip accordingly.

NIST offers some useful visitor information.

Lodging:

A block of rooms will be reserved at the NIST price for the week of the summer school. Information will be posted once acceptance letters have been mailed.

Air Travel and Car Rental:

Participants that have been approved for financial assistance should follow the instructions in the email correspondence. Participants not approved for financial assistance should make their own arrangements.

There are three major airports in the Baltimore/Washington DC area; Reagan National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles Airport (IAD) and Baltimore/Washington International (BWI).

Transportation between the airport and hotel:

For students flying into Reagan National or Dulles, the Washington DC Metro is a good option. Reagan National has a subway station located at the terminal. A short bus ride takes you to a subway station from Dulles. To arrive at the Shady Grove Station on the "Red Line" takes roughly 60 minutes from either airport. Please check WMATA for the most recent schedule and fare information.

Van service is available to Gaithersburg from all three major airports. Quotes given below may not be the most up-to-date fare information. Please call for current rates.

• Federal Airport Shuttle (301-721-2929 or 866-721-2929)
  Fares from Dulles or National $55 for one or two, fare from BWI $69 for one or two.
• Maryland Shuttle (301-881-8800)
  Fare from Dulles or National $20 for one, $8 for each additional passenger, fare from BWI - $37 for one, $8 for each additional passenger.
• Super Shuttle (800-258-3826, http://www.supershuttle.com)
  Fare from Dulles, National or BWI: $30 for one passenger, $40 for two passengers, and fare from BWI: $39 for one passenger and $51 for two passengers.

Transportation between the hotel and NIST:

Transportation to and from the hotel will be provided by NIST daily.
