POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS IN CONDENSED MATTER PHYSICS

The NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) is seeking candidates for postdoctoral fellowships in the Experimental and Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics Teams. The experimental team uses a suite of thermal and cold neutron triple axis spectrometers, while the theory team applies first-principles computational techniques to study structural, magnetic, and superconducting properties of novel materials such as multiferroics, frustrated quantum magnetic systems, and iron-pnictide based superconductors. The positions are available as part of the newly formed Director’s Postdoctoral Fellows Program at NIST. A doctorate in condensed matter physics or related discipline is required. The incumbent is expected to collaborate with condensed matter scientists at NCNR as well as perform their own independent research taking advantage of the wide range of neutron instrumentation and computational tools available at the NCNR. Appointment is typically for two years, with a starting salary in the range of $65K
