The schematic plan view below shows the reactor situated in the confinement
building, otherwise known as C-100. Guides NG2 through NG7 traverse
roughly 7 m of concrete and then enter the "old guide hall". Guide NG1 passes
through a smaller amount of concrete, into and out of the "D wing" (D-100), and
into the old guide hall. The new guides, A through D, guide B being split into
separate upper and lower guides (designated Bu and
Bl
respectively), pass through D-100, through the south-west corner of the "old
guide hall", and into the "new guide hall".
The wall between the "old" and "new" guide halls, represented by the dashed line,
was removed in May 2011. The "old" and "new" guide halls are now a single room,
G-100.

The 3-D view below shows the new guide casings extending from the CT-W in-pile
monolith (top right) into C-100, D-100, and finally G-100 (bottom left).
NG-A is first to split from the other three guides, and NG-B splits
away somewhat further downstream. The guides then pass through the shutters,
through the wall into D-100, and finally through the wall into G-100.
Note that the NG-B casing widens dramatically as it proceeds through
D-100 into G-100 because it contains two guides,
(designated Bu and Bl
respectively),that will supply neutrons to two separate SANS instruments.
