Information for New Users
Welcome to the NCNR User Laboratory Facilities!
We are committed to provide you with support and the basic equipment and supplies to do your experiment.
New Users are asked to do the following:
- Take the laboratory safety training. The training is a short lesson of the general rules and information related to our laboratories. It is in addition to the radiation safety that is required to access the building.
- Get familiar with your laboratory and work area.
- Plan what type of equipment and supplies you will need. Talk to your contact and/or Yamali Hernandez to help set up in the laboratory.
- Please review the Condensed Guide to Laboratory Safety.
All users, including new users, are held to the following guidelines:
- Respect for others and their property is the number one priority.
- Before you leave, your work area must be clean and in order.
- Before you leave your contact or Yamali Hernandez must check the work area and your waste.
- It is important that you follow all the rules and regulations in our laboratories.
- Do not take any equipment or supplies from one laboratory to another. Extra supplies are on the shelves (labelled extra supplies) in laboratory E136.
- You can use equipment in other laboratories as long as the main contact for that laboratory agrees to it and the equipment is returned.
- The use of some equipment requires 24hr. preparation. Please, plan accordingly.
- To use acid you need special training.
- Our facilities can not provide the same environment and equipment as your institution or university, but we will do our best to meet you needs.
- If you have any further questions, ASK.
