NCNR BUILDING PICTURENCNR
The NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) is part of the Materials Science and Engineering Laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The activities of the NCNR are focused on provision of neutron measurement capabilities to researchers in the U.S.A.

The NCNR is a national center for research using thermal and cold neutrons, offering advanced measurement capabilities for use by all qualified applicants. Many instruments rely on intense beams of cold neutrons emanating from a recently upgraded liquid hydrogen moderator.

Title: Materials Research With Neutrons At NIST

The NIST Center for Theoretical and Computational Materials Science has the following missions:

  • investigate important problems in materials theory and modeling with novel computational approaches;
  • create opportunities for collaboration where CTCMS can make a positive difference by virtue of its structure, focus, and people;
  • develop powerful new tools for materials theory and modeling and accelerate their integration into industrial research.
