OBJECTIVES OF NANOTUBE RESEARCH AT NCNR
Using the state-of-the-art first-principles structure and electronic
calculations combined with neutron scattering measurement techniques,
we investigate:
Possible novel phases of nanotubes under high pressures
Band gap engineering by reversible deformation
Tunable adsorption on nanotubes by elliptic deformation
Functionalization and metal coating of nanotubes
Dynamics of species in nanotubes; ``H2 in SWNT''
