This group carries out a broad program of neutron scattering research using the NIST Research Reactor facilities, and develops and applies new techniques and methods for neutron research. The group is made up of teams dedicated to Chemical Physics of Materials, Magnetism and Superconductivity, Crystallography, Surface and Interfacial Studies, Macromolecular and Microstructure studies, and Neutron Beam Applications. In addition to the pursuit of their research interests, members of the group lead the development and use of the scattering facilities in the NIST Center for Neutron Research. Almost all of the research carried out is done either in collaboration with researchers from other institutions or as a result of proposals by outside users, and group members serve as resources for these outside researchers.
