Course Materials
As they become available, summer school course materials
are being placed on the Web.
You are advised to check this page from time to time between now and
the summer school.
- A useful introduction to neutron scattering, written by an acknowledged
expert in the field, Roger Pynn, is already available on the Web, and
students are strongly encouraged to read it before the summer school:
Either go to
Los Alamos Science Summer 1990
and click on "Neutron Scattering-A Primer", or
go directly to
Neutron Scattering-A Primer.
- For neutron scattering lengths and cross sections
- Here are some general reference texts:
G.L. Squires, "Introduction to the Theory of Thermal Neutron Scattering",
Cambridge University Press (1978), republished by Dover (1996).
M. Bee, "Quasielastic Neutron Scattering", Adam Hilger, Bristol (1988).
R. Hempelmann, "Quasielastic Neutron Scattering and Solid State Diffusion",
Clarendon Press, Oxford (2000).
S.W. Lovesey, "Theory of Thermal Neutron Scattering from Condensed Matter",
Clarendon Press, Oxford (1987).
G.E. Bacon, "Neutron Diffraction", Clarendon Press, Oxford (1975).
