- Quantum Dynamics in Two Dimensions
- Quantum Visualizations
Features
- Algorithms and programs for computing eigenvalues and eigenstates for 1 and 2 dimensional potentials
- Programs to display the eigenstates for 1 and 2 dimensional potentials and animations of the transitions between eigenstates.
- Algorithms and programs for computing the the time-evolution of a wavepacket scattering from 1 and 2 dimensional potentials
- Programs that produce animations of wavepacket scattering from 1 and 2 dimensional potentials
- Algorithm and programs for computing the the time-evolution of particle-particle scattering of two 1-dimensional wavepackets
- Programs that produce animations of wavepacket-wavepacket scattering in 1 dimension
- Programs include WP2DSURF.PRO, an end-user widget application that allows the user to select from a number of pre-defined potentials in two dimensions and view surface animations of the time-evolution of the probability density. Type WP2DSURF at the IDL command line to launch the application.

Simple Quantum Visualizations Using IDL (NIST Special Publication 1098 2009) (3.3 MB)--PDF file of the book.
distribution.zip (1.6 MB)--Contains all of
the IDL source code files presented in the book. Unzip this ZIP file into a directory in your IDL path. Note that these programs were developed using IDL 7.0 but should run with IDL 6.0 and higher (though I have not tested them with earlier versions).
You can also download a flyer that I distributed at the Visualize 2009
meeting in Washington, DC, April 15, 2009 (4 MB). It contains a number of examples of quantum dynamics targeted to a wide audience.
