Neutron and Positron Research and a New Cold Source at the Reactor Institute Delft

The Research Institute Delft (RID) operates a 2 MW reactor (HOR) primarily as a source of neutrons and positrons for a variety of instruments. It is located on the campus of the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands. RID has embarked on a major upgrade, the OYSTER Project (Optimized Yield - for Science, Technology and Education - of Radiation). A major component of the project is the installation of a liquid hydrogen cold neutron source. The presentation will include a description of HOR, an overview of the neutron and positron research, and progress on the design of the cold source.
