MEMORANDUM FOR All Staff in Building 235

Subject:    Emergency Actions and Reporting

I want to remind everyone that emergencies (such as fire, injury, security etc.) are properly reported to NIST Emergency Services by calling 2222. However, they must also be reported immediately to the Reactor Control Room on 6292 or by page phone. Our procedures require that the operations staff meet the emergency responders on entry; they further require that the reactor supervisor take the appropriate actions whenever there is any non-standard situation taking place in or around the building. Only they are in a position to make the correct judgement about the seriousness of any situation; therefore please report all known or suspected problems to them immediately. It is better to notify them about too many things than to miss a necessary report.

Thank you for your attention to this issue.
