POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN CONDENSED MATTER THEORY
A postdoctoral position is available to carry out research in theoretical condensed matter such as magnetic properties and spin-polarized electron-phonon coupling in iron-pnictide based superconductors, excited and optical properties of metal-organic-framework materials (MOFs) and their potential applications for energy storage and conversion. The research will cover a range of activities from running various programs such as ABINIT, PWSCF, VASP, PARSEC, etc to writing some analysis codes. Training in materials science, physics or chemistry would be appropriate. Knowledge of a good computer programming language such as F90/python/C/C++ is a plus.
NIST CENTER FOR NEUTRON RESEARCH
The position is based on a new collaborative research project between Prof. Serdar Ogut at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and Dr. Taner Yildirim at the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR), Maryland. The postdoc will be employed by UIC and located at the NCNR, NIST, Gaithersburg. The position is available to start immediately, but the starting date is flexible. The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable for another year upon mutual consent. Salary is competitive and is based on qualifications and experience.
Interested candidates should send a CV with a list of publications, and contact information for three references to either Dr. Taner Yildirim at taner@seas.upenn.edu or Prof. Serdar Ogut at ogut@uic.edu. More information about the nature of the research can be found at http://www.ncnr.nist.gov/staff/taner and http://bach.phy.uic.edu/ . The University of Illinois is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
