Since acquiring these systems they have remained in almost constant use during the cycle. They are especially popular because of their low base temperature compared to a general use CCR. While we quote them down to 5K they can, depending on the setup, get below 4K. The extra low temperature is due to a special mixture of rare earth elements in the displacer instead of the standard lead filling.
